I have been with the same team @ IBM for the past 7 years in various roles related to supporting customers’ anti-virus infrastructures. IBM has decided that all the employees on my team (around 40 or so) should move from their work-at-home positions to a new IBM facility located in Dubuque, Iowa. Along with the move is a project to implement LEAN methodologies in addition to the ones we implemented back in 2007.

With all this turmoil and an underlying desire to move into a more challenging position I started to apply for some internal IBM positions. I just found out yesterday that I was selected to move into an ISA (Information Security Advisor) position supporting a new pharmaceutical customer for IBM. While my official start date is July 15th, I will be transitioning my current workload to a co-worker and learning about my new role until then. I will also be able to maintain my work-at-home status which is a huge weight off my shoulders.

The ISA is available to handle all customer inquiries as they relate to security. Typically, the ISA reports to an IBM account manager (e.g., a DPE or Service Delivery Manager). Each ISA works to provide security expertise, oversight, and leadership to the delivery of security services; and to provide overall security direction for IBM’s managed accounts.

The goals of the ISA are to:

  • Ensure that account is meeting its contractual obligations with respect to security.
  • Ensure that account is protected from damage caused by unauthorized use of computing assets.
  • Maintain positive relationship with customer security contact(s) and account management team.
